How to remove snake?

Ok, there's a big black snake in my house. It's hiding behind the water heater now. It got in through the bathroom sink drain pipe. The snake is nearly 3 feet long, all black, with white spots on its head. I think it's more afraid of me than I am of it. I don't want to pick it up!

Don't try to pick it up! It will probably bite you- just call the snake removing company in your area- or.... call the police- I saw them removing a snake from someone's basement on Cops, and they won't charge you to come out- the snake removing people probably will..... save money- call the cops!

I've actually been told to grab it by the tail, or let it try to crawl up a broom handle and take it outside.

what happened was the thing crawled up the bathroom sink drain pipe. I know this because the plug was popped out of the bottom of the sink. Then, it was screwed, with no where to run but into the hot water heater cabinet. I have no idea where it is right now, after stepping out for a few hours.

It's an indigo racer, non-poisonous, and beneficial.

Beneficial to who?!- What if it's in your bed- or under it, and you wake up with it wound around your neck! - You need to find it Greg- I won't be able to sleep tonight worrying about that snake in your house- Call the Cops!

Run for the hills and call out the marines, that what I say. Or how about this - ask your landlady to remove it! Seriously, I'd feel much happier if you were a bit more afraid of it, it sounds dangerous to me.

Jen, when out of the corner of my eye i saw what I thought was a snake on the kitchen floor, my first thought was, am I seeing things? Is that a bleeping snake? A big one, too. I did call my landlady. She sent her yard helper in with a broom, but he sent it scurrying in retreat behind the hot water tank. She's telling me I need to catch it by the tail. But then, she feeds raccoons by hand. I'm going to have to wait it out, or get used to it and feed it Iron Beer and chips.I've got no idea where it is at this moment, as I went out for a few hours. My hope was that it figured out a way to get out. The irony is that I caulked and plastered a whole bunch of holes to weather proof.

Gregory how bad is that. My worst fear in life is snakes. I can't even look at a picture of one without screaming. I even have to turn the tele over with my hands over my eyes leaving enough gap to barely see the channel for fear one pops up. I guess your not as scared me as you would have had a heart attack by now. I hope you get rid soon so you have peace of mind.

I hear it in my walls now. I think it crawled into a place it can't get out of. This is just like an Edgar Allan Poe story!

I never did like Edgar Allen Poe-

Not long ago while hanging out some clothes to dry, I got the shock of my life to spot a head (half body) of a thing I couldn't make out what & thought it was some kind of something but later I convinced it was a black snake cos I waited for it to crawl out from the manhole. It has two shapes. One minute it turned like a cobra (flat) and then it changed to a round shape crawling. (3' long) if I was not wrong. I peeked from inside of my kitchen window of course and I had a terrible phobia because I am a typical woman who is so afraid of snakes. I couldn't get rid of the image until today.

We didn't attempt to kill it because it's not what we could handle with bare hands. I actually saw it crawl away to the neighboring bushes.

What I don't understand is the snake came back to the same hole for the 2nd time before we could seal up the hole & up till now (Touch wood first, Greg) I never see it again.

I dare not even touch a snake so I can't tell how to remove it but some say to use smoke to suffocate and it will crawl out when the smoke gets enough for it to breathe.

Wow, a cobra! I definitely would not have gone after that thing, Hilda. I just turned on the stove light, and some shadowy shapes were flickering on the counter. I thought maybe the snake crawled into the light fixture, but I see the outline of a tree frog. I guess I live among animals. Maybe they know I am one of them.

Lord! I can't stand any outside critters inside my house- not even a bug- Do you live in a jungle Greg? What kind of animal are you?

Well, it might be like having a cat... it will eat bugs and small rodents, maybe?

This would have been more like an indoor greyhound, because this was one of the fast "racer" snakes. Just not enough slither room in here for it. After getting my head together, I came up with an idea I can no longer use. Since it kept poking its head out the little water hose hole in the water heater cabinet, I could have taped a bottle or even bag over the hole, waited for it to fully slither into the bottle, and then safely take it outside. It would have worked similar to a lobster trap. I think it's long gone, I think it found an escape hatch somewhere.

Ah, good news. I don't like snakes but I don't want to kill them unless they are poisonous and/or threatening me in some way. I appreciate any creature that is on my side in the eradication of other pests. I feel the same way about the geckos and lizards - I don't particularly like them but they eat mosquitoes for goodness sakes - that makes us on the same side of the war!
