I have friends who say white clothing/shoes should not be worn before Easter. Others say that's an outdated rule. Does it still apply or not?
Answers to this question:Fashion nazis are oddly rampant and strangely, are actually listened to; it's surely not just a fashion rule but a type of mind control, a cult surrendering of your own ideas to have one's discretionary (fashion, in this case)powers usurped by others. One eagerly accept their rules not seen as imposed onto one.
Sad and scary, if one thinks about what other thoughts, rules and other ideas OTHERS could easily mass impose on us, in similar quiet fashion and all with our eager inquisitive rule seeking permission and surrender.
It is odd, isn't it, Paul, how someone makes up "rules" and then gets others to follow along, I suppose through peer pressure. I grew up in a rural area and had never heard of this one until I moved to the south. I have never been very good at following rules that don't make any sense to me, so when I have something white that I like, I wear it regardless of what month of the year it is.
No
No I heard you don't but I don't know why
I have never heard of this before.

I truly believe the restrictions on wearing white after Labor Day or before Easter or Memorial Day are totally outdated. If you look at magazines some of the most famous fashion icons of our time wear white year round. So don't let some ridiculous rule stop you from looking fabulous in those white shoes, go for it!
only on sundays
Nope and don't wear it around here for weeks after - we are still wearing sweaters and ski jackets - this has nothing to do with fashion but is practical - white doesn't work in mud - we live on a dirt road. Wear winter white all winter though so nothing makes sense, does it?
silly superstitions..
I certainly hope that rule is outdated. I wear white whenever I feel like it. I'm all for tradition when it serves a purpose or gives comfort, but this one is just silly.
I think it really depends on where you live. For example, I live in Central Florida and people wear white year-round because the weather is generally mild in the winter. The same goes for Hawaii, which we visited a few years ago.

Total Answers: 12, Total Page Views: 1,985.Well it depends on if you are religious or not and how faithful or devout to that religion you are as well. When you say "rule" though, are you referring to religious practice or an actual law of state?
Is it unholy to help someone from dying on a sabbath day? Would it make you a bad person if you wore white? I don't think it would. You wear white if you want to wear white. And you wear it proud my son/daughter.
