Give them a place to sleep provided they go to work the next day. Teach them to strive for surviving to rid this situation. It is easier said than done but somehow they must come to realise the world can be a better place if they are willing to change.
Do you think all homeless people don't want to go to work the next day? No one hires people with no phone number or address. You think they're not willing to change? I guarantee you, the vast majority of them are absolutely desperate to change.
Give them hope, encouragement, a sense of purpose and responsibility
The government should be obligated to trade any person a place to live, food to eat, a small wage, and the best health care available in exchange for work of some sort. It's the only humane answer.
Unfortunately, many people like to scream loudly about not willing to help or support anyone ever, regardless of circumstances, except for the politicians whose paychecks they pay with their taxes.
I've known a few homeless people, and most of them didn't want a job or a house to live in.
There are 2 that live in a secluded, wooded area about 2 miles from my house. Sometimes one will get upset because the other is intruding on their space. I'm not sure why, but I think that's kinda funny.
None of them have ever turned down food or money from me. I'm not sure I've ever really helped them, though.
Direct them to the offices the government has set up for this purpose. If they want help, it's there, but they have to do their part. If they do not want to do this, nobody can help them.
Offices? The only help that's available to the homeless in the vast majority of the United States is shelters, where anything you do own gets stolen, you catch every disease that happens to be going around that week, and you often get beaten or raped, and that's if you can get in before all the beds are taken. Most homeless people find it's SAFER to sleep on the street where all they have to worry about is the random vagrant or cop beating the crap out of them.

Most of the problems in our own lives will be solved by helping others. The whole concept of being successful is based around giving and helping fellow man. I also believe in the law of the debt, that states when a debt is made, it must be paid, however the lender does not really mind who pays the debt. This is also true of the debt of gratitude. The universe pays the debt somehow, somewhere.
Giving is an extension of our personality and tells the world what is in our hearts. As the Declaration of independence implies: "Those who have the ability to help, have the responsibility to help."
We can contribute part of our income to Non-governmental bodies to hewlp build houses for the homeless.
Government can as well set aside a particular percentage of the national budget to build houses for the homeless.
Just depends how they got homless, some of them do not deserve a second change. On the other hand some do.
Also with the unemployment so high, the homless do not really stand a chance.
invite one into your home and feed and clothe him.... you may be entertaining an angel unaware
share shelter and foods to them. give them home!
Jesus said: "We will always have the poor with us". And He also said we should have the love of God and be compassionate and understanding at all times.
Someone else in time once said: "The world continues to offer glittering prizes to those with stout hearts and sharp swords".
So very true. It's the world that we live in today and there are always going to be homeless people. It's sad how people end up homeless. At one point in their lifes they were probably happy normal people with a bright future ahead of them. Sadly due to heartbreak or failures elsewhere things can go from great to bad in no time at all for some people and they be left with nothing. Many then result to drinking and things get worse obviously. It's so sad that these things happen to us as people, as human beings. I mean, it could be anyone of us. But it doesn't make sense either. What is the point of that as a life? It's no real quality way of life at all.
There but for the grace of God. Whether you believe in God or not. Whether you think He knows better than you and "everything" happens for a reason. Even murders, deaths and amazing beuatiful people ending up as very down-and-out "tramps". There is only so much you can do based on your current situation. If you're a millionaire then donate to homeless charities to help out. Or if not and you are really passionate, you could always find out if their are any homeless shelter schemes running in your local area and see if they need any volunteers.
But you should never do any more than will put yourself out. It's a sad fact but it's a cold, cold world out there. We'll always have the poor and always be at war with each other. (Until that one fine day). But do your part and enjoy your own life as much as you can with gratitude.
