I could "shrug" but that is left to Atlas. Ayn Rand's fictional character used metaphorically and rhetorically to describe the helplessness and despair of people in a fictional world. The real John Galt created another society to tackle the sociopolitical problems these people faced and was considered iconic among them and those outside who sought him. He was mythical and divinity to them. John Galt is who you need him to be and Ayn Rand was brilliant!
