I'd rather have the designer in there then I could have as many designer garments I like.

I have never been one for designer gear purely because of cost. I see a lot of people look great in clothes for a fraction of the cost of big label names

I would rather have a load of inexpensive stuff than have limited designer pieces so that I won't have to always stick with the limited few that will give people an odd feeling about me not having enough to change. Moreover with the advanced workmanship these days even certain imitation products are mistaken for real.

It depends on the quality of the inexpensive stuff. If the inexpensive stuff where to fade away or loose it's shape after a few washes, I would go with having a few designer pieces. Then I would select the designer pieces that are "timeless" and mix and match my outfit to include one of the designer item. I would try to have one "essential item" that is a designer piece such as skinny jeans, boots, red stilettos, purse, casual suit jacket, and a little black dress.

I've had designer clothes- and I found, eventually, that I didn't really look any better in them than I did in the clothes I got at J C Penny's or Kohl's. That's what matters, isn't it?

Many inexpensive ones? Who cares what make your cloths are? I don't.

I'd rather have many inexpensive ones over just a few expensive ones. Unless I had one for every day of the week. I could happily live with that.

I would prefer to have more inexpensive items for sure. Designer pieces are usually overpriced to start with, so I would be getting more for my money. And I would definetely be shopping around to get good quality and quirky designs.

rather to have many inexpensive pieces... you can dress your self of different style with a lot of selection to choose from. I will experiment my dresses to look dashing on me/...

i would say a mix of both.there are designer pieces that are must-haves i.e. shoes, bags, jeans or maybe one little black dress. then the rest, you can get the inexpensive one that will compliment the designer ones.

I am exactly in this situation where I cannot afford designer pieces. I personally would rather have many inexpensive ones. There are several reasons for this:

1. Organization - A few designer pieces would not allow me to organize as I need to. Therefore, I would end up with very nice pieces, but would not be able to show them off because I feel like everything would be messy. When there is a lack of space to put things in place everything seems messy.

2. Inexpensive does not mean "ugly" - You can still make pieces look nice even if they are not designer.

3. Patience - I can get what I need for storage and space inexpensively and then save for designer pieces and add them little by little. This way I would not feel financial strain from impulse buying designer pieces.

Hope this helps, just my opinion.

Hello Jean,

I would go for a combination of both, particularly for women, fashion clothes-lots of reasonably priced stuff, however I spend more on clothes that are less likely to date.

Black is good for mixing and matching, most of my business suits are black/dark plus black is slimming.

My wife likes to buy lots of clothes buts tends to wear for one season only so she budgets accordingly, that's what she tells me anyway!

She also mix and matches jewelry the effect is that it all looks expensive but in reality some of it is in fact costume jewelry.

Even if I was rich I wouldn't purchase designer clothes. I would rather have a closet full of cute quality yet less expensive clothes that look good on me. I could care less about designer labels.

Closet, what luxury, when I were a lad we only had one bedroom, and that was no bigger than a closet. Come to think, it was a closet.

One bedroom as big as a closet, bloody luxury, when I were a lad, we had a shoe box, that was our bedroom, without room for the bed.
