Has anyone tried "YakTrax" overshoes (which are supposed to help you walk on ice and snow)?

Hey Ben I have never heard of this but I am absolutely petrified of slipping on the ice. Nonetheless when I go out I put on a pair of woolly socks over my shoes and there is no fear of ever slipping. They tend to stick as you walk. Beats any other method. Please try it and you will see. Wear black if you dont want to draw attention. To be honest ff socks will stop me from breaking a leg or other I wouldn't care if they were bright red with yellow spots

Socks sounds like a good idea, and wearing socks on the outside is less of a blow to one's dignity than falling on your arse!
