It is a man's job so I won't do it. I let my husband have a good time while I relax. However, cooking is my business so he can relax while I have a good time.
I did it once (back when I was playing liberated female - and got grease and dirt in my eyes - it was a mess and have paid someone else to do it ever since. It was my old Corvair van - my favorite vehicle!
It is pretty easy to do, but dealing with the old oil is why most people don't do it.
With that in mind, the old oil is easy to get rid of, most auto parts stores will recycle your old oil for free and all you have to do is take it to them or just show up and dump it in a big tub or bin of some kind.
Benefits of changing your own oil. There are some benefits to changing your car’s oil yourself – such as saving a few dollars, knowing the job was done correctly, and the satisfaction of getting your hands dirty. But for me, those aren’t enough – not when I can take a few minutes out of my day and pay a couple extra dollars to have it done for me.
