Because you have to sit and have your head attacked by hundreds of people blasting ideas across the board room which you have to consider.

Brainstorms are inspirations that enter your consciousness by chance or by selective effort; they are at the very heart of all invention, creativity, and successful projects. Probably everything we do or worth starting is as a result of a "brain storm." You get a fleeting thought, and in a split second it nurtures another and another. Without any effort on your part, you are getting these thought pulses that propel you into an "aha" moment. Presto. You've had a brainstorm.

The fundamental principle of brainstorming is: in a brainstorming group you can expreses any idea that pops up in your head. Nothing is right or wrong. No one will criticise other person's ideas etc.

Alex osborne is credited with this idea generation technique.

They are called BRAINSTORMS, because the underline thought is to shake our thinking, to break old assumtions and to destroy the status quo.

Coz your brain is being bombarded by ideas coming from every corner of the room, making it go whirl as it tries to comprehend which idea makes the most sense.

Because it's a time when the brain gets "flooded" with a "torrent" of ideas at once. However, if a person gets brain freeze (by eating ice cream for instance) during a brainstorm I call it a "blizzard."

During a "brain storm" you write down all the ideas that pop into your head, without judgement, on paper. And in that state ideas pop up from right to left, up and down, from everywhere and around you, ideas that feel you up, and feel you up and you just need to write all of them down fast because as you write one down 10 others pop up and the go by so quickly (like thunder) they can disappear in a flash.

Brainstorms or brainstorming together is when more people get together to do this same activity, but get even more ideas because a bad idea from someone can be turned into a better idea by some other's interpretation of the situation. These ideas are judged after the group wrote several of each individual's own down.
