What does "Bend over backwards" in customer service means?

To go "beyond the call of duty" to make the customer happy

Do more than you need to do or do something very difficult to ensure you help the customer.

Looking at Bens answer I don't know what to think. They say the customers always right but if the call of duty calls for bending over to far just to please an awkward customer, then I think there is a law against it. Oops Iv'e gone off the wrong track again
