Why do they say a football team is the 'world champion' when they don't play anybody outside the US?

Hahaha! Good one, Avis. Actually, Soccer is called football in some countries. So maybe they're thinking of Soccer. But if they didn't play anyone outside the country, then they would have to be world champions as no one outside the country could beat them??????????????

I'm not much good at sports.

Because this country was founded by equal opportunity offenders. In the beginning and until relatively recent history, if you weren't a white, male, landowner then . . . Well, you just weren't significant. And winners are significant, dammit! ;=)
