To emphasise the difference between their legs and men's legs. Also, it gives them a speed advantage should they need to swim somewhere in a hurry!

Hi Camille.

The obvious answer is to be more attractive according to current standards of beauty. If I didn't really care what people thought of me, I probably wouldn't bother to shave my legs at all. I find it to be a complete bother and it is uncomfortable when it starts to grow back out. During the winter, I hardly shave my legs at all because I wear pants or knee high boots or long skirts with leggings much more and do not run the risk of offending other with my unsightly leg hair. :) Actually, it has become quite a bit thinner as I have become older. I remember that my grandmother had so little hair left on her legs (mostly the lower part) that we would pluck them out with tweezers.

I do shave my armpits regularly all year long because they are less smelly that way. Thankfully, I've never had an odor problem with my legs. :)

Great question, Dianne

I always thought it made getting panty hose on easier.
