I'm looking forward to it too. Let's hope it manages to last a little longer without falling apart and releasing over a tonne of liquid helium into its tunnel this time! I hope one of the controllers said a very loud "Doh!" when that happened :)

So, what, there's only a 1% chance the the entire planet will be sucked into a black hole created by this thing? Is that good odds? I like to think I'm a man of science too, but come on!

Speaking of the odds... there's a man called Joe Keane who has bet $1000 dollars that the LHC will destroy the Earth. If he wins, the money will go to the National Rifle Association. Quite how he plans to claim his winnings is a mystery.... :)

A Toy Story quote comes to mind... "My eyeballs could have been sucked from their sockets!"
