Why does grape flavor smell the way it is when actual grapes don't taste or smell anything like it?

They may have been/started fermenting and thus give off a distintive smell.

The flavor is artificially made and the grapes are au naturale! Man tries to duplicate what God does and will fall short every time. We get an "E" for effort, as it's said.
