I don't believe he was born in Kenya, nor do I believe in some grand conspiracy regarding his election.

However, it does matter. The constitution is clear about the requirements for serving as President. Nominees must be natural born citizens.

For the record, I am a Republican and did not vote for him.

No he was born in Honolula Hawaii.

People are making things up because they don't like him. Anyway, if you have lived a long time in the US and you consider yourself American you should be able to.

However, this would mean an amendment to the Constitution which would not be popular.

The greatest US president, Thomas Jefferson, was not born in the United States. He was a president who supported the right for immigrants to come here, for civil liberties in religion and speech. You can think him for letting your ancestors come here, and for creating liberty as the standard of the nation. All the evidence of Barack Obama's birth points to him having been born in this country. Would it matter if he was born in another nation? There are requirements in the constitution, but I think they're pretty meaningless anyway. Why would America reject a foreign-born president, if they were capable of winning our popular support? Why are we, as American people, considered too stupid to make that choice? It's a tremendous fault in the US constitution, but it's only one of the many. Hope, love, generosity, and will power are born in every nation of the globe -- they know no borders. By limiting foreign-born candidates, our constitution limits the possible, good candidates that can serve the nation's people. Or, you know, exploit and murder them.
