It seems to me that we've all talked about this before on WS. But maybe you weren't here for that discussion yet. Bottom line is that people put down other people in order to feel better about themselves. It's a very bad habit, but I have upon occasion made a comment to Bernd when I see someone wearing an outfit that does nothing to flatter their figure that I would look better in it than that (I have issue surrounding my age and appearance). I think we all do it from time to time. Doesn't make it okay though, when you are on the receiving end of it.

One reason I think people put down others is because they see themselves , especially negative charactoristics that they wish to change in themselves, in that other person.

Because they are shallow minded and think they have a greater plan for you other than the plan of God. So jst stick to Gods plan. And let them run their mouth dry, while u flow in Gods love.

People put other people down because after watching years of television and movies, it is ingrained to be dissatisfied with what we have. Having negative examples constantly bombarding, it becomes ingrained in our nature . . . spouse abusers saw it every day in their parents as they grew up, kids bullied in school can't wait to take it out on someone else, advertising is the worst example to kids that without a product they are poor, stupid and outcast. It's okay to have an opinion, it's not okay to be mean.
