Mine is from Texas and he is NEVER wrong - just ask him.
In this case, he is not wrong. He is a smart husband. His wife is a very lucky woman to have a man so considerate and caring, for her.
You have quite a cultural knack for charming any distraught husband....
When a woman wants her way and is unwilling to compromise, then the man is always wrong. It can go the other way too. But it seems to do that less often. :)
The most insurmountable difference? That's a good question and one that many people have tried to answer over the years.
Being a woman, it's hard for me to look at things from a male perspective. And it seems to me that in order to answer that question, that is what I would have to do. Maybe we should look to transsexuals for the answer. I do not personally know any.
And I thought this was going to be easy, for you!

It's not physical because modern medicine can do some really weird things.
I think that we just see things very differently. Men make fun of women in general for not having any sense financially, but women are more about security and all that it implies. There are a lot of behaviors that could be tied to wanting security of one kind or another. Men seem to be more about moving around and taking risks and having more fun. A woman is going to want to stay put so that she can keep all the things that make her secure near to her. A man could probably put all of that into a backpack and hit the road just about any time.
That's my best stab at it. :)

If he is arguing he is wrong, but I am amazed at how often this is true, if the wife is on vacation for a week and me and the teenage kid are at home, everything works just fine. When she's home, she notices hundreds of things that are wrong!

Dishes left in the sink, for instance, aren't at all merely dishes in the sink; for men, they are.
For women, dishes left in the sink, symbolize destruction and poverty, chaos and loss.
Hmmm, does he WANT to be wrong? Most men just pick a fight so they can make up later...
He never chooses to be wrong, purposefully and
"make-up sex", isn't all it's racked up to be.

Fortunately, we haven't experienced any 'insurmountable' differences yet ... We tend to agree on matters of any importance, like how to raise children and financial issues. These days, recycling can cause us some grief. I think he's too rigid, but have to admit, he's probably right. Wish I had something more interesting to tell ya ...

When both sexes were very young and beginning dating, the insurmountable differences, were breasts!
