I read through some articles which some of you did walk on foot and some didn't even move a leg.
Answers to this question:Some made me get up and walk away. Some made me get up and pace back and forth.

This had several reasons, one was there were robbers and it was felt that any resident robbers would not bother a stranger if accompanied by a local person. Another was simply to show hospitality. Often the guest or stranger passing through, would request their company for the mile. Jesus, in his admonishions gave this statement: "And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain." (Matthew 5:41) so that is where the "go the extra mile" came from.
Hi Joel, thank you for answering this question. I now understood the meaning of the "mile".
Blessings !
