Before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.

After enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.

Perhaps we have been enlightened without knowing it.

Ahhh. I doubt I will ever really be enlightened, but I've had a number of mini-enlightenment moments; little revelations.

Most recently, I've realized that it is okay to change your position on something. In the past, having taken a position regarding a certain issue, I would think that it had to remain my position forever hereafter. As you might imagine, there were a lot of things I would leave "up in the air" as a result. But it is okay for me to change my mind. If people want to call that wishy-washy then so be it.

It's essential to decide NOT to decide.

If one, however, reports those UFO 'things' "up in the air", that you're also familiar with, one will get taken away for some government 'positioned' "wishy-washy"!

Women, suddenly in love, oddly describe those very same symptoms, verbatim, as were stated in your very first sentence!

Look, I would have moved away down the park bench, a distance, from anyone who discussed or who brought up topics like aliens, abductions,UFOs, psychic attack, possession by demonics or hauntings, twenty years ago.

Now, it appears, I AM BECOME that very person others sidle away from, down that very self same parkbench!!!!!!

Listen to both sides and you will be enlightened .

Bored, a little disgusted or mildly annoyed, afterwards, is close to how I feel after having to listen to both sides; there's ALWAYS, somewhere else, differing from BOTH sides, a 'third' correct 'side'...........

I have learned not to take myself too seriously. Live for the moment and enjoy every bit of it. To me, that's enlightenment. Anything else, phew.

Interesting that you would ask this question Paul. For years my neighbor and I have had discussions about his seeking enlightenment and I always countered with my thoughts from reading the Bible. I more or less told him that I didn't see much value in sitting and watching the back of my eyelids for an hour. Looking back, no pun intended, he was offering me a clearer mind so that I could be more available for my Bible's teachings and have a clearer understanding of its Wisdom.

For the last few weeks (one hour/one day a week) he and I have been sitting and promoting a clearer mind for ourselves. Well. . ."What self 'Enlightenment' has occurred within me?" I believe I well answer your question this way:

I have found it enlightening to realize that I can use enlightenment to further my search for being able to understand my daily readings. That is, enlightenment is a superior tool for me to learn how to use for my purpose of understanding the spirit of love that I must have. . .so that I feel of some value to my family, friends, and the always demanding - me.

Oh, oh. . .my spell checker isn't working and my wife is not home. . .

Before enlightenment, I don't smell well.

After enlightenmet, I still don't spell well.

Thank you for the super question Paul,

Michael/Calvin in my book

I've been pondering this question quite a bit, though I haven't responded to it. I know I've had quite a few enlightenments recently, but almost by definition they aren't the kinds of things that one would share publicly.

I actually believe that I've recently discovered the meaning of life, but kinda like (was it Curly in?) the movie City Slickers, the meaning to life is this: ()

Understand?

Life is a mandela symbol? A symbol for a pubis? A sideways kiss?

Having not seen this movie reference, I am sufficiently baffled.

Rather than enlightenment; I seem to have periodic epiphanies.....some more enlightening than others- it IS essential to decide not to decide....not until the plus-size lady sings-

My trouble, may well be the omnipresent unholy cacophony, nonstop, in my head, of an off key choir chorus of "plus sized ladies", all of who succeed to drown out my thoughts, with synchronized singing...

I've recently realised that you don't always have to agree with someone else's opinion.

I've spent my life trying to keep everyone else happy - to my own cost. I have now realised that my feelings are just as important as everyone else's

Self enlightenment within myself? Whenever I drink tea and think about absolutely nothing. My mind is drawn to a clear canvas of simplicity and peace.

» Comment from Paul Schroeder Comment made 353 days 21 hours ago.
I have to SMOKE some tea, for that same canvas effect......

With enlightenment comes a new perspective, so if you are paying attention to yourself, you'll know when you experience an new perspective. I recently discovered that I did not think that money was important and I did not value it. Because of this non-productive thinking on my part, I was never able to keep money for any length of time, no matter how much I made: I'd spend it, or lose it trying to make more money After becoming aware of this non-supportive attitude about money, and 3 days of intensive "reprogramming" of my money "blueprint", my understanding and appreciation of money has changed drastically, and I now know that money is very important and the key to the freedom that I desire! So, at sixty years old, I'm now able to become financially free and wealthy, with a new "enlightened" Belief system, which I work to strengthen EVERYDAY with a variety of exercises and declarations.

The greatest enlightenment when was when I discovered money could not buy love or happiness. I was no longer a prisoner of material possessions or the insatiable desire for more...more and more.
