How many people jump off the Golden Gate Bridge each month (average)?

OK, I know this is a macabre question, but my daughter lives in San Francisco and someone was telling her about the statistics. Going further, of those who jump, how many survive?

Over 1,300 have committed suicide from jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, last time it was counted. Only 23 of the people who've jumped have survived. That is what I've read about it.

I'm not sure how many jump per month though.

And one of the surviving people went back and jumped again, killing herself the second time.

I've no idea, but I could look it up. Probably won't, though. Another interesting fact, though, is that quite a few people fall to their deaths (about 12 each year) while visiting the Grand Canyon. I've never understood how this can happen. They have all sorts of safety rails and warnings posted. I figure people are just being stupid. Jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge is usually done on purpose, however. And from Sydney's reply it looks to be a good way to commit suicide. I should think it would be fairly terrifying for a few seconds though. Not my idea of a good way to do it.

My guess would be an average of one person a month. As to the number of survivor probably 1/2 of 1% survived.

Correction: The average a month is about 30 sadly it is one a person a day.

Too many.

Nenita had the answer someone who photojournals the GG Bridge in SF told my daughter. Unofficially, they figure about 30 each month. But, I think Marijo's answer is truly the best...too many. Thanks for all the input on this question!

They have extended the guard rails and tried to make it harder to jump but people do still manage; they should instead have put up a small alcove with a coat rack for a jacket and pens and pads for last messages.
