Answers to this question:The murder of a child.
It is one of the scarrrry things on earth that could happen and cruel to even think of it.
I think, the rape of a child.
It's so common.
And, what's even worse is that these children don't come forward, and are forced, by their fear and shame, to suffer in silence with no one helping them.
I can think of 17 people, 14 of them female and 3 of them male, that were raped or molested as children, and didn't come forward. Most of them were raped by family members, which sickens me. They're grown now, and they still suffer in silence, never having gone to the authorities, or even told their own parents, except a few. One of them was actually pregnant by her father, though she was only 12. They are traumatized, and no matter how old they get, they remember what happened to them as children. When an adult is raped, it's horrible, but an adult has a chance at coping, where as a child, with it's child's mind, cannot possibly understand what happened or why.
5 of these people that I speak of lived in Arizona, and the rest live here in Georgia. I think location does play a part in a thing like this. Incestuous rape runs rampant in this town I live in, it's common and even accepted.
OMG, Sydney. I hate to read about cases like this. This is terribly horrible in a world we are in and where you live. Some people must try to help those victims get out of their situation and bring the predatory (beasts) to justice. However, the victims must first be brave to come forward and it can be very traumatized ....
Jean's answer is probably the best. And what Gregory said about nature made me stop and think. But I don't think nature is INTENTIONALLY cruel. Whereas people are more often than I like. So I am going to submit a circular answer. I believe cruelty is the cruelest thing on earth.
Cruelty itself is cruel and nature can be cruel as well Dianne. Other than human-created disasters, natural disasters are regarded cruel because they come to destroy almost without warning like the recent earthquake in Christchurch, NZ.
