I tried copying the document from word but it wouldn't copy as it is. I had to add numerical points but the copy editor won't recognize the space between different paras. Finally, I had to remove the numbers to format the article so it looks better.
Answers to this question:Hi DM, I've heard similar reports from others, but I haven't been able to get anyone to send me the original Word document so I could try to duplicate the issue. Can you email it to me?
I will do that.
I got it, DM, and I tried posting it. At first, I just copied it from Word and pasted it into the new editor. The spaces between the paragraphs were maintained, but the numbering was removed.
Then I deleted it and clicked the 'paste from Word' button, and pasted the document into the popup window. Spacing was maintained and the numbering was there, but inline with the start of each paragraph.
Then I switched to the old editor and pasted the Word doc, and spacing was maintained and the numbering was preserved just like the original Word doc.
I wonder if there's some sort of problem the new editor has with international characters, specifically the line feed character or the carriage return character. Unfortunately this doesn't give me much direction for what to try next. I'm probably going to have to find another HTML editor which works more universally.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Thanks for the try, but no issues Bruce. You've been helpful enough. :-) Maybe can wait till you get a new editor.
What about deleting the numbered or bulleted section once you've pasted the doc into the old editor and then retyping it using the new editor's numbering or bulleting feature.
I haven't tried doing that but it shouldn't be too much trouble. And right now, I use the new editor to correct the paragraph spacing when I paste from MS Word anyway.
I tried that option but didn't work. :-)
Hi DM, If you can e-mail the original Word Document to me, I think I can copy it for you. I may save it as Open Office doc. and do the copying from that.
Okay. I have already mailed a copy to Bruce. Let me see if he is able to rectify it. I will mail you the doc after that.
