http://www.therealessentials.com/followyourheart.html - This might be interesting to you. Surely, an inner voice speaks through the heart which isn't a metaphor anymore, at least to me. Scientifically, spiritualism can be proved right. :-)
Answers to this question:The heart is run by the brain. With a connected brain, most important parts of the body can "think" in some way. Without a connected brain, it's just meat.
Thank you for letting me know. :-)
I think that would be news to a cardiologist and neurologist, but perhaps the person who posted the question can tell us if there is some new study I've not heard about.
I certainly know that in antiquity and pop culture the heart is often associated with feelings, but I've never heard anyone say it "thinks".

The heart of a person is thier spirit, your spirit knows what you truley need, not what you think you need. If you follow your heart instead of your brain, you will allways do will. The Scripture says to pray in the spirit because the spirit knows allready what you ask.
Robert, how would you address the scripture at Jeremiah 17:9 which says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" (New International Version of 2010). This translation is typical of many Bible versions. Basically, we are told that the heart is deceitful. In other words it can fool us. The Bible speaks of the heart in a figurative way, as a seat of our emotions, motivations, affections and desires." You state that if one follows his heart, instead of his brain, he will always do well. However, this scripture suggests that following our heart could lead us to trouble. For example sometimes we ignore sound counsel and advice of others, because in our heart we really want to do something. We are not following our brain, but our heart. It usually doesn't end well. To illustrate, a young man may fall in love with a beautiful, but immature, young woman. His parents and friends may warn him that the girl is very vain and selfish. They may try to reason with him that she isn't a good choice for marriage. Yet, he elopes and marries the girl. Six months later, he is so disillusioned, that he separates. What went wrong? He followed his heart, not his brain. The scripture at Jeremiah 17:9 proved true.
