There are three ways to thaw your turkey safely — in the refrigerator, in cold water, or in the microwave oven. To thaw, do not remove the turkey from its original wrapper. Place it on a tray or in a pan to keep thawing juices from leaking. Once thawed, the turkey will keep in the fridge from one to two days. Avoid refreezing if at all possible; however, it could be refrozen (in a pinch).

The best way to thaw a turkey is to buy a fresh one. That way there is no risk of salmonella or worse, a late dinner!
