Just out of curiosity, could someone explain to me why Brandy was voted off Dancing with the Stars last night, instead of Bristol Palin?

In explaining your answer, please take the following into consideration:
1. During the competition, Bristol has been in the bottom, 7 out of nine times.
2. On Monday, Brandy received a perfect 30 for her routine, in comparison to Bris, who was awarded a surprising 27.
3. If you aren’t blind, you can clearly see that Brandy is a far superior dancer than Palin.
After last night’s elimination, I can safely conclude, that mediocrity does pay!
Answers to this question:Having a famous momma pays.
This is the season where Dancing With the Stars begins it's decline. Whenever the voting public begins to vote without awarding the best dancers the show is going to lose viewers. Like the "Sanjaya Season" of American Idol. When folks figure out that the voting system can be gamed and winners can win for "political" reasons instead of their talent; it's the beginning of the end.
Jean:
Your comment about having a famous mom is right on the money. However, I would hate to think that Tea Party Revlers, are voting to keep Sarah Palin's daughter on the show, even though she clearly cannot dance. But how else can you explain last night's fiasco?
This isn't the first week it's happened. She should have been voted off about 3 weeks ago, yet much more talented dancers keep being eliminated. I guess people just like her?
Maybe people do like her, but why?
1. Because she conveys vulnerability?
2. Because she's clearly not the best dancer, and people see themselves in her?
3. Because she is the daughter, of the GOP's reigning princess?
Either way you look at it, Dancing With the Stars should be based on who is the best dancer, not who's the most popular. You agree?
I completely agree!
I didn't watch the results. I'm shocked to learn that Brandy was voted off. I did see a small segment of TMZ in which they found Tom Bergeron and asked him about the "Bristol Conspiracy." Maybe it really does exist, though of course, he denied it.
I'm disappointed. I thought for sure Brandy (or maybe Jennifer) was going to win. Actually, I was rooting for Brandy. Now I have no real reason to continue watching the show. Pooh!
Maybe Brandy was just too good. Americans have a tendency to root for the underdog. Of course, that doesn't explain why David H. isn't still in the running. I didn't watch any of the early part of the competition so I never saw him dance. I'm just being silly.
As for Bristol being mediocre ... in the context of the competition she is, but she's doing a better job of it than I imagine I could do. Ooh ... maybe middle Americans see themselves in Bristol and that is why they vote for her.
Anyway, I share your disappointment.
In this era of webcams, social networks and other high-tech gadgets, a conspiracy doesn't seem so strange. I get the feeling, that if Bristol was competeing against the late Michael Jackson in the finals, The King of Pop would be booted off, and Bristol would emerge victorious. What does that tell you?
Poor Brandy, in tears. She is so professional in dancing but the cruel world almost smashed her dreams.
Let's wait and see, the true color will prove but this time, so bad .

Isn't it great to live in a country where we can express ourselves without fear of reprehension? To reiterate, great answer, why didn't I think of that? Bravo, Hilda, Bravo!

What? The Tea Party would vote for someone less qualified? That's outrageous!
Bruce:
I love your answer. You're right the Tea Party would vote for someless qualified.
Total Answers: 5, Total Page Views: 381.Brandy was superb. It's a shame, I agree. However, you realize it's John Q Public that has a huge influence on the final vote count - It's basically the public that makes or breaks some of the individuals. While Brandy is really gifted, Palin has made some noticeable improvement. There have been other obvious goofs - I think it's partially talent with a lot of popularity thrown in.
Old Gray Mare: (Ah, what a name)
When you say it that way, you are soo right. Nonetheless, I assumed that because Brandy can really dance, she would make it to the finals, along with the talented Kyle Massey and the unbelievable Jennifer Grey.
By the way, after reading your comments, I won't be surprised if Palin wins the whole thing, when the results are announced Tuesday night.
Happy Holidays
