Was it a rich man or a smart person who said "money can't buy happiness"?

I would say a pretty stupid one because right now if I had money I sure would be happy

According to the Telegraph newspaper, research shows that the wealthier you get as a country the more miserable you become.

I think happiness is the result of a good inside job (inventory). You can't buy that with money no matter how much you have, you can only get it with rigorous honesty and a lot of footwork in my opinion. I think either a rich man or a smart man could have said this if they were on the quest for happiness.
