Is Your Elderly Parent Driving You Nuts?

HI, I found your article very interesting. I took care of my mother when she became ill. As a matter of fact I took an indefinite leave of absence from my job to care for her. I admit it was very hard sometimes but I would do it all over again. I also took care of my father. I still miss conversations with my parents and the joy and laughter we shared. I never think about the hard times. I would give anything to be able to take care of them all over again. Thank for your article.
YES! I or I should say my wife, JoAnn took care of my mother for about 5 years. It was a blessing, but it was also like caring for a 2 year old sometimes. Mom went to heaven when she was 93! My wife my brother, his wife and daughter were all with mom when she died. It was a tearful and moving experience as she reach up to someone we all could not see,,,
I took care of my father who had a dementia for a few years. It was extremely taxing of me and I reached out for all community resources. One that really helped me was a program called Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Look it up in your State. It helps you learning coping and communication skills and hooks you up with local resources. I thank God for leading to me to this program. It helped me get through that time with my father, but also gave me skills to live a better life all the time.
